Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. Used in laboratory settings for the reconstitution of lyophilised peptides where multiple withdrawals from a single vial are required.
The benzyl alcohol prevents microbial growth, allowing reconstituted peptide solutions to remain stable for extended periods (typically up to 28 days at 2-8°C) — a critical advantage over standard sterile water for injection, which permits no preservation.
Use:
- Reconstitution of lyophilised research peptides
- Multi-dose vial preparation for stability studies
- Cell culture buffer preparation
Supplied in sealed sterile vials. For laboratory research use only. Not for clinical or therapeutic use.
